Chaos was the law of nature; Order was the dream of man.”
― Henry Adams,
All of our adventures consist of up to 6 children 2 adults and sometimes a very large dog. Now with that formula you would think it would equal guaranteed disaster.
…I’m sure you could only imagine what that would be like!
I’m sure most of you would rather do absolutely anything else than travel in a car full of chaotic children. We’d be lying if we said it wasn’t chaotic and sometimes down right grueling on the ears. We just drink more coffee laugh harder, sometimes blast the music and sing (our singing could stop any fight, and redirect all annoyances towards our lack in vocal range).
I’m here to tell you that you’re absolutely correct to be hesitant or put off! But first, let me tell you why we find it is the most functioning disaster there is!
Its completely normal for children to be absolutely chaotic, at times. We don’t try and control it it with force or anger what-so-ever. We keep our patience, so they may in turn learn to keep theirs. We go with the flow in the most positive way… Sometimes a candy bribe is used to make it to the next destination, or to tame a hangry child; Other times a simple distraction of a current landmark passing by, a fun song, joke, or game. Yet mostly all resolves on its own and we keep trekking on.
Fact- you can not control the weather; and same applies to a vehicle filled with 6 children! With their different thoughts, personalities, temperaments, etc! But that’s what makes it so beautiful we know their will be laughter, tears, bickering, smiles, messes, accidents, puking, hitting, laughing, screaming, music, coughs, snoring, a shortage of pillows… one being to hot the rest all cold and vice versa! We know it wont be perfect! We know there will be some sort of chaos! Yet we continue on! Those elements that ensure absolute chaos, also come together to make beautiful moments! Their unique perspectives, big personalities, and their sense of wonder! Those strong emotions that send them into tears also bring big belly laughs, contagious smiles, and the most amazing observations. None of those little negatives could ever ruin our trips, our times together we embrace it all! And make all the beautiful chaotic memories.
When its all said and done, we have made the most of the day. because these are the moments…. and we wouldn’t have them any other way.
So if your worried about all the things that could go wrong: just think of all the things that could go right! Embrace it and take your kiddos venturing ❤ Even if its just down the street to a park or across country! Do it, the memories are worth it all!
